Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Avengers: Prime #2 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

Thor is trapped in a deserted palace in Vannaheim by Amora, the Enchantress and her weird minions; she blames Thor for her state and would have her revenge. Thor, who does not accept the responsibility, attempts to fly away but a spell from the sorceress causes him to be weighed down with her monsters. He hurls them back at her and demands to know what she is talking about….

Elsewhere, Tony Stark has been surrounded by ogres, who are not amused by his glib banter; when he mentions being a friend of Thor, they thunk him on the head and carry him off to their leader. When the leader, a wizened old man, hears the name Thor he morphs into his true form, the giant dragon Fafnir, who was once killed by the Thunder God. Tony is stripped of his Iron Man armor and readied for sacrifice….

Steve Rogers leaves the tavern in the elven village, fighting off the last remnants of the hostile elves with his borrowed weapons. He encounters a kindly face, Lady Mageth, who offers to treat his wound. He finds himself pouring out his heart to her with his concerns about his friends, his insecurities, and his dreams to her, and learns she is an empath, and he is drawn to her romantically….

In a stunning four-page sequence of alternating panels, the three heroes learn the truth about their situation, Thor from the Enchantress, Tony from Fafnir, and Steve from Mageth: because of Asgard being transported to Earth, the Nine Realms were thrown out of balance and the inhabitants overwhelmed with fear and violence. And worse, the ruler of the new twisted realm, as Thor discovers, is Hela, Goddess of Death. Thor takes her on in battle, and he calls down a lightning strike that is seen by both Steve and Tony where they are. And Tony warns his captors of what is to come….
