Comments: The title comes from a classic 1937 film of that name, which also involves a plane crash and a mountain climb but is otherwise not connected.

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Captain America: White #2 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

After their plane is shot down, Captain America, Bucky, and the Howling Commandos parachute to safety. Cap, however, sinks to the bottom. When the others realize he is missing, Bucky dives for him and locates his partner but has to cut loose his shield to carry him to the surface. When Cap comes to and discovers his shield missing, Bucky is upset but Cap says he made the right call. The group holds on to a piece of wreckage and makes it to shore. Bucky is still upset about losing Cap’s shield….

The following morning is a dim and foggy one. The group soon discovers a mountain blocking their way. Cap suggests they climb; Nick Fury points out that they would need a tool to do that—like Cap’s missing shield. Suddenly, the Sub-Mariner arrives from the depths and returns the shield, vanishing again. Cap uses the shield to cut handholds in the mountain as they scale it. When they reach the top, Cap finds himself staring into the barrel of an enemy tank….
