On his rescue mission to the Savage
Land, Captain America is surprised to meet Ka-Zar's son Matthew
Plunder—who should be a baby only a few months old. No time for
explanations, they have to fight off a horde of dinosaur-men, mutated
from ordinary humans. Outnumbered, they are joined by Zabu and make
their escape with a pair of friendly pterodactyls. Matthew takes Cap
home to his parents, who turn out to be quite elderly. Ka-Zar
explains that the arrival of the villain Stox has changed everything
in the Land. He was doing genetic experimentation, using the locals
as lab rats. Many died, others were mutated into monsters, and
Ka-Zar, Shanna, and Matthew aged. Ka-Zar uses his dying breath to
tell Cap that Sharon Carter is a prisoner of Stox. The family mourns
the passing of the jungle hero....
In Stox's lab, the villain thanks
Sharon for returning their escaped test subject Mehmet Kemel and she
tries to rescue him from further experimentation and Stox blasts her
with his eye beams. Cap, Matthew and Zabu assault Stox's lair,
arriving at the lab where Cap recognizes Stox who unmasks as Count
Nefaria....
At A.I.M. HQ, the experiment on the
failed super-soldier test subject recovered from SHIELD and manage to
restore him to life, dubbing him...Protocide!
