Comments: Part one of two parts. Silver Surfer’s first full appearance in this title; he and Subby met previously in SUB-MARINER #34-35. First and only appearance of Calizuma and his Warrior Wizards. Dr. Strange’s friend Kenneth Ward appeared in DR. STRANGE #183.

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Defenders, The #2 Synopsis by Julio Molina-Muscara

When the Sub-Mariner was locked in the mystic barrier (previous issue), he saw the Silver Surfer talking to Necrodamus before loosing consciousness. Angry, the Atlantean prince asks Doctor Strange for help to find the Silver Surfer.

Namor finds him and unleashes his anger on the former Galactus herald. The Surfer does not understand Namor's reaction and flies away. Before departing, the cosmic traveler mentions a valley. Doctor Strange thinks that place is located in the Himalayas. So the duet asks the Hulk to come with them.

They find a group of suspicious ape men and the Silver Surfer shows up defending them. Namor reveals his anger to the Surfer. But he doesn't remember having been with Necrodamus. Thus, the ape men turn into their real selves: Calizuma and his warrior Wizards. They were controlling the Surfer's mind and were related to the Nameless One and Necrodamus. The Defenders attack the villains. Calizuma is the hardest to conquer but he falls at last.

When the battle is over, the Silver Surfer regrets being trapped in Earth. Doctor Strange offers his help so the Surfer can return to his home world.
