The Fear continues in New York
City….
Spider-Man rushes the pregnant
Karen Anderson to a hospital and discovers the ER is in the same chaotic
condition as everywhere else in the city, full of frightened and injured
people. He turns Karen over to a doctor who says she is dead. Then Ben “the
Thing” Grimm, possessed by Angrir, Breaker of Souls, smashes his way in,
wreaking havoc. Spidey tries to reason with his old friend, dodging serious
blows, until Angrir hits him so hard, Spidey goes into cardiac arrythmia. The
doctor calls for the paddles and Norah Winters hits the monster with an IV pole
to distract him. Spidey is revived but is torn with hopelessness. But he looks
around and realizes that everyone expects him to save the day, even the doctor
who has discovered that Karen is alive and so strives to save her and her baby.
Spidey sees Norah fighting for him and hurls himself back into the fray,
violently pummeling Angrir. He finally thinks he has hurt his foe and realizes
the monster is annoyed and Spidey won’t survive another blow of the hammer.
Desperate Spidey fires a web to attach Angrir to a light fixture which
electrocutes him. Angrir recovers quickly but decides Spidey is too much
trouble and departs. Spidey passes out, unaware that many of the people he
stopped to help over the previous two days are now safe and sound, including
Aunt May, because he never gave up hope….
