Hulk #6 Review by (July 22, 2019)

Review: A knockout battle always makes a philosophical debate more exciting and here we have Hul—excuse me, Doc Green, versus Rick “A-Bomb” Jones on whether he is a bad guy and if his “cure” is a good thing. Green wins the debate but only because he wins the slugging match. I'd like to see this on more political interview shows. Anyway, the battle is well done and underlines the similarities to the Iron Man arc “Armor Wars,” a pretty good epic in itself; there are worse things to copy. And Doc Green Hulk is becoming scarier than all the previous ones and only IMMORTAL HULK would top him.

Comments: Final appearance of A-Bomb as of 2019, which would have come in handy for Rick in SECRET EMPIRE. This MODOK is actually MODOK Superior, created in HULK (2008 series) #29. The cover, showing Doc Green with a Mohawk (Mohulk?) beating up Rick Jones is quite misleading, not uncommon with this series.

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Hulk #6 Synopsis by Julio Molina-Muscara
Hulk, who calls himself Doc GreenHulk, who calls himself Doc Green now (calling him Hulk makes him, em, angry), is convinced that he must de-power A-Bomb, and the other gamma spawned creatures, because they all represent extremely dangerous unstable weapons.

His first target is A-Bomb, AKA Rick JonesHis first target is A-Bomb, AKA Rick Jones, his old-time friend. A-Bomb does not want to be de-powered, and fights the Hulk's off. A-Bomb tries reasoning with his green pal that he uses his powers for good and that they were a gift from M.O.D.O.K.

But the Hulk insists that such is but a curse. M.O.D.O.K. may have left a backdoor with which to control A-Bomb, and so he is determined to "save" his friend. The Hulk finally sticks a special needle in A-Bomb's chest and delivers his cure serum: Made from the Hulk's own blood, it includes adamantium nanomites that absorb Gamma energy. The serum works and A-Bomb turns back into Rick Jones.

The Hulk asks Rick for his aid in curing Betty Ross. Although they just fought and Rick is now Gamma powerless, he agrees to help.

The Hulk then gets to M.O.D.O.K., who created A-Bomb. The former villain is now working for SHIELD. M.O.D.O.K. admits to SHIELD of his responsibility for creating A-Bomb, and swears to stay away from any such experiments.

Learning about the news, Thunderbolt Ross, AKA the Red Hulk, states that he will bring the fight to the Hulk, and remain the sole Hulk among them.
