Invincible Iron Man #233 Review by (June 6, 2017)
Comments: First appearance of Kathleen “Kathy” Dare who will become a strange sort of romantic interest for Tony for the next few years (hope Rae Lacoste doesn't find out about her). Sole appearance of news reporter Tina Sanchez. And Prince Charles did have a history of being unhorsed while playing polo; he finally retired from the game in 2005 at the age of 57.

Review: And a more natural epilogue to Armor Wars: Edwin Cord is still champing at the revenge bit and plotting terror for Tony. Meanwhile, the opening scene is a beauty with the Ant-Man action also nicely done. Not a spectacular issue but it holds up well.

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Invincible Iron Man #233 Synopsis by T Vernon
As a Stane satellite decays in its orbit and heads toward Earth, Iron Man swings into action. First removing the nuclear core and sending it out into space, he breaks the satellite up into tiny bits which fall harmlessly to the ground. Newswoman Tina Sanchez reports on the mystery of the new Iron Man, giving a recap of the Armor Wars arc, including Shellhead's apparent death at the end of Issue #330, and hoping the new one turns out better....

Tony Stark arrives at the office where an attorney serves him with a summons from the State Department, suing him over Iron Man's damage to the Vault (issue #228); Tony has Mrs. Arbogast escort him out by means of a wedgie. Tony also threatens his own lawyer, Bert Hindel, for not doing a better job of protecting Stark's designs via legal means. Marcy Pearson has set up a press demonstration of new Stark technology and Tony has his best man working on the video system: Scott Lang....

While Scott is doing his job, an imprisoned Edwin Cord has operatives plotting to make Tony's demo disaster....

The next day's event begins with a charity polo match (including the Prince of Wales who is dehorsed). Tony scores the game-winning goal and a young woman named Kathleen Dare asks for his autograph and invites him out. He must decline and he goes off with Rae Lacoste, leaving James Rhodes and Marcy Pearson to head back alone. The Armor Wars put a wedge between the two but the copter ride allows them to patch things up....

The demonstration of Stark's new armor is ready to go. Using the latest video technology, Tony's face will appear on Rhodey's body so that Tony can be there live as Iron Man. As Shellhead goes through his paces, building a monorail system in minutes and fighting with remote controlled bad guys, Scott Lang discovers some real bad guys. A trio of armored thugs working for Edwin Cord are planning to massacre the press at the demo. Switching to his Ant-Man guise, Scott takes out the baddies with a combination of his size-changing powers and insect allies, finally shrinking the last thug down to ant size. When Tony gets word of the trio of bound baddies he doesn't know what to make of it....

Epilogue: When Edwin Cord hears the radio broadcast of the Stark demo and nothing untoward happens, he throws a fit....
