Synopsis

Iron Man: Golden Avenger #1 synopsis by T Vernon
Rating: 4 stars
Pepper Potts is named Stark Employee of the Month yet again but when she heads to her car she is drugged and wakes up in a girlish bedroom handcuffed to a brass bed and subdued by a giant stuffed rabbit. Her captor is her jealous assistant Callee who has a scheme to gain a promotion and power….

The next day, Tony Stark wonders where Pepper is though her assistant Callee admirably takes up the slack while badmouthing Pepper. Tony is ushered into a meeting, only to find Spymaster waiting for him, wanting to know about Stark’s new weapons tech. The baddie is then joined by Blacklash, Jolt, and Plantman. From the baddies’ talk, Tony learns that their boss is a Stark employee who was able to get the security team out of the way. So Tony has a remote controlled armor burst through the wall and scare the villains off. Tony takes the opportunity to don the armor as Iron Man….

At home, Callee explains her plan to Pepper: having given everyone the afternoon off and hired the bad guys to capture Tony Stark, she plans to walk in and save the day, becoming Employee of the Month. After Callee is gone, her mom bursts into her room to vacuum and discovers Pepper….

Callee arrives at the company to find the villains have armed themselves with various Stark weapons found in the lab and assume (correctly) she deliberately set them up so they have destroyed the communications devices she gave them which were secretly Tasers. Iron Man arrives and the baddies use the weapons on him, causing an armor breach. Pepper arrives and with some guidance from the hero manages to initiate self-repair mode. Pepper then hustles Callee out of the room while Iron Man mops them all up….

The police take away the bad guys, including Callee, and Pepper tells her that her mother is mad at her. And thirty days later…Iron Man is named Employee of the Month….

Iron Man: Golden Avenger #1 Review by (June 4, 2022)
Comments: The Marvel Database sets this in Earth-20051, setting of the Marvel Adventures all-ages series, though the cover is a photo from the first IRON MAN film.

Review: Highly enjoyable all-ages tale with the chief villain being…a jealous secretary? It all works and the baddies are a bunch of dummies. Not a lot else to say.
