Iron Man: Legacy #4 Review by (January 22, 2022)
Comments: Tony uses Armor XXIII Mark 1. First appearances of a new Titanium Man and Crimson Dynamo. Eaglestar Corp is revealed to have been supplying the Melter-armed soldiers in issue #1, with many of them being the same guys as here.

Review: A whole lot of political wrangling among the Chinese, the Russians, and Iron Man which can be safely ignored while we concentrate on the action. And the action is pretty cool. And Eaglestar gives us some insights into the minds of mercenaries who fight not for morality or ideology but for money, allowing them to literally treat genocide like a game. Pepper’s anguish at the beginning is palpable, showing the human dimension that Tony Stark is ignoring. And the sight of the invading Doombots is enough to chill anyone’s blood. Yikes!

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Iron Man: Legacy #4 Synopsis by T Vernon
In New York, Pepper Potts calls and leaves a message for Tony Stark that she and other Stark employees have been arrested by Henry Peter Gyrich and begs him to return home….

In Latveria, Doctor Doom oversees the operation incorporating stolen Stark tech into his Doombots, then heads to the border to welcome the Transian Romani refugees, assuring them that he hears their pleas for him to annex the Romani sections of Transia to Latveria….

Tony Stark returns to Nina’s barn to discover his mobile lab is gone, taken by Doom. He is surrounded by the Romani militia so he contacts J.A.R.V.I.S. to send him armor from his space station. Nina still demands he pick a side in the conflict and he remains committed to his own side, defending his legacy….

American mercenaries from Eaglestar are in a camp, controlling the Iron Men drones like they are playing a genocidal video game when Chen Lu, the Radioactive Man, arrives, spy satellites having reported that Iron Man is there. He kills several of the soldiers outright, leaving one alive for interrogation. Then Shellhead arrives, having tracked the transmitter controlling the Iron Men. R-Man tries to kill Iron Man but destroys the transmitter instead, which leads to the Iron Men collapsing into heaps on their murderous mission. Iron Man grabs the lone mercenary (Keith) and flies into the air to find out who had hired Eaglestar since the Zmaj couldn’t afford them. As Keith is about to tell all, Chen Lu knocks Iron Man and Keith out of the sky with a big chunk of machinery and Keith falls to his death. Iron Man and R-Man battle while the Chinese hero preaches ideology—and then he is felled by the arrival of Titanium Man and Crimson Dynamo, who claim the right as Russian heroes to defeat an enemy of the Slavic nations. As the two armored Russians take on the Chinese hero, a drone is broadcasting the melee back to Moscow and other Slavic sites. Iron Man jumps in—and then they all see….the invasion by a multitude of Doombots resembling Iron Man….
