Loki: Agent of Asgard #14 Review by (June 2, 2015)
Comments: Cover title: LAST DAYS OF LOKI: AGENT OF ASGARD, a tie-in to SECRET WARS (3). The story title is a line from the song “Sixteen Tons.” Cameos by new Thor (Jane Foster), New Captain America (Sam Wilson), Spider-Man, Storm, Hulk, Black Bolt, Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers), the Vision, and on a separate page, Malekith. Color art is by Antonio Fabela and Andes Mossa.

Review: Everything is going a bit crazy in this issue since there has to be something outrageous happening for it to tie in to SECRET WARS. None of it is going to “count,” none of it is going to be remembered so why should anyone bother? I’m sure this is as good as the rest of the series but I’m already tired of this year’s event and it’s barely started. Oh and what’s this with Loki regenerating? I though it was the current SILVER SURFER that was a rip-off of DOCTOR WHO?

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Loki: Agent of Asgard #14 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

Odin has a dream where he is told by Gods Above Gods that the new Ragnarok is about to come. Odin goes to the Congress of Worlds with this news and calls upon the delegates to join him in battle. They all scoff at his ranting and he goes back to Asgard sulking. When Freyja hears about this she calls her husband a fool….

Back on Earth, a new Loki, God of Stories this time, is confusing Verity Willis; neither one can explain what is going on, especially after Loki turns into a woman before her eyes. Looking out the window they see the Last Battle with many heroes heading into action against the invading ships. Loki then tells her that her (Verity’s) story is the most important thing there is….

In Asgard, Heimdall looks out over the Ten Worlds to see who is likely to answer Odin’s summons to battle. Then Freyja takes Odin into the deepest dungeons to show him some forbidden weapons from a foreign realm. Odin is stunned….

In Hel, King Loki comes to see Hela, Goddess of Death to ask that she turn over to him his child; she contemplates this request. Balder appears and makes to stop Loki from unleashing this monster on the world again. The evil Loki, however, is armed with mistletoe, the one thing that can harm Balder….

The forces of Asgard are assembled and Heimdall calls on the Enchantress to show them what he sees. What the guardian sees is the hosts of the dead coming for battle, led by Loki riding the Midgard Serpent (his child)—and bearing Balder’s severed head. The Asgardians are stunned—but then Odin and Freyja arrive, bearing Earthly military armaments….
