Loki and Lorelei hitch a ride on the wing of a plane and then drop into Asgardia floating above Broxton, Oklahoma. To distract Heimdall, guardian of the Rainbow Bridge, they have Thor do battle with the Technocracy in space above. [A flashback reminds us that Thor owed Loki a favor for saving him in issue #1.] Lorelei casts the Charm of Liquid Solids and the splash through all the way into Asgardia’s dungeon. They then enter the Room Full of Incredibly Deadly Traps, protected by illusions. Via cell phone, Verity Willis is able to guide them through the illusions and out the other side. They encounter Sigurd who has managed to free himself (this part of the plan was arranged while they were pretending to fight to the death in a dumpster last issue) and admits them to the most secure part of the dungeon. Now Sigurd’s and Lorelei’s roles in the plan are finished and they depart while Loki moves on to his real mission. He locates a magically shadowed cell and releases old Evil Loki (brought back by the All-Mother in issue #1). Young Loki is there to slay old Loki with the Sword of Truth—but it has no effect since the weapon was forged by Old Loki himself (as seen in issue #3). The God of Evil taunts his younger self with the knowledge that his destiny is inevitable. The All-Mother arrives and they demand an explanation from the Old Loki; he responds with the vision of Asgard a paradise ruled over by good King Thor with Loki as the recurring villain. Young Loki wants to know why she would not set him free from the chains of fate; they reply that knowing how the story ends gives all Asgard security and that the old Loki is therefore agent of the true Asgard….
A sulky young Loki returns to his New York apartment where his older self appears in a mirror to tell him that his sins will soon be uncovered….
