The Death-Throws, a band of juggling criminals, have invaded a Las Vegas casino with robbery on their agenda. Bombshell tosses a small bomb at a crowd but it is snatched out of the air by the newly heroic Loki and hurled back at the villains—minus the fuse since Loki doesn’t want to hurt anyone. Oddball hurls a larger bomb at Loki who draws his sword and bats it, as in baseball, back at the baddies where it releases its charge of knockout gas. The villains are vanquished and Loki is a hero….
Going back a few hours, Loki and Amora the Enchantress were trying to explain to their friends Verity Willis, Lorelei (Amora’s sister), and Sigurd how their personalities had been inverted by the magic spell in AXIS #3. Where once they were evil, they are now good (with their "good" qualities being also reversed so that they are "good" in a smug, self-righteous manner). Loki especially can no longer tell a lie and considers himself absolved of all his crimes, even his betrayal of his younger self. The two newly-minted heroes invited their friends to join them in their quest. They declined so the heroes say goodbye to them, no longer interested in the affairs of mortals. Upset by her friend’s betrayal, Verity walked out accompanied by Lorelei and Sigurd. Learning that Thor was causing trouble in Las Vegas, Loki set out to save him from himself—while Evil Loki laughed….
Now back at the casino, Loki, having vanquished the Death-Throws, is thanked by the casino owner and departs in the form of a magic unicorn to find his wayward brother. At the next casino, the God of Heroism confronts the ex-God of Thunder and the look in Thor’s eyes signals that he has become the new God of Evil….
At home, Verity drowns her sorrows over her best friend’s betrayal in wine. She calls Lorelei to share her pain but interrupts the minx in the middle of a robbery….
