Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Steve Rogers: Super-Soldier #3 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Imprisoned in the Nextin beach lab, the now weak and frail Steve Rogers recalls his childhood days being the target of bullies. Now he is at the mercy of robotics master Machinesmith, who reveals that Jacob Erskine experimented with his grandfather’s Super-Soldier Serum as a possible cure for cancer. He was unaware that Machinesmith, through his robot minion Myron Smith, was also experimenting with the Serum as a way to create an army. The test subjects were unstable so Steve Rogers, the only successful recipient of the Super-Soldier Serum was lured into a trap by the name Erskine and the sight of the robot double for his first love, Cynthia Glass, for his body to be studied and a better serum synthesized. After the tests are complete, Steve is beaten and tossed in a cell where he waits with military discipline. When the villain informs Steve he has the information he needed, he orders two of his hulking thugs take the prisoner out and kill him. Steve turns the tables: he may be a weakling but he is still the best-trained soldier in the world; even with the weight disadvantage he manages to overcome the guards and escape. Finding his way to the lab he reactivates the Anita Erskine robot. Because of her life as Erskine’s wife, the robot knows how to reverse the procedure which robbed Steve of his powers. "She" leads him to the Vita-Ray lab where his abilities are restored. When guards burst in and seize Anita, Steve is able to defeat them easily. Driving away from the beach house, Steve asks Anita where Machinesmith would likely meet with representatives from several terrorist-supporting countries to bid on the Super-Soldier Serum. She directs him to Nextin’s secret base with an airfield, choosing to join Steve in his mission….
