Thor: God of Thunder #24 Review by (July 2, 2014)
Review: A milestone in the saga of Thor: Asgard leaves Earth—it’s been over ten years and we never thought it would last this long but, in true Marvel fashion, the change comes in the darkest and most miserable manner. What they didn’t have any girlfriend they could stick in a refrigerator instead? And how impressed should we be with Thor donating his own castle to Broxton since we never knew he had a special home? Maybe this would look better in the trades with a complete story—or not since the “complete story” seems to be continuing from the first issue of the title. Maybe we’ll see the big picture in a decade or two and this won’t seem so dreary. Maybe not.

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Thor: God of Thunder #24 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

Roxxon CEO Dario Agger holds a press conference at the ruined town of Broxton, laying all the blame for its destruction on the Asgardian gods. SHIELD Agent Roz Solomon contacts Thor’s lawyer, Jennifer "She-Hulk" Walters, who has gotten the injunction against the Thunder God lifted but the public opinion is going against the gods. Roz arrives at Asgardia and Heimdall directs her to Thor who is thundering his bitterness. The All-Mother tells Thor that the gods are going to leave Midgard to deal with the growing unrest in the Nine Realms. He confides in Roz that he knows not what to do next. The gods assist the Broxton residents in cleaning up and Thor meets with Jane Foster, persuading her to be Midgard’s representative at the Congress of Worlds. Roz Solomon punches Agger in the face and the All-Mother leaves Broxton gifts of gold, enchanted fruit trees, and an eternal fountain. Thor comes bearing a massive castle—his own—to provide housing for the citizens. Thor will stay on Earth….

On Roxxon Island, Agger learns from Ulik of the existence of the Nine Realms and dreams of conquering them….

In the far future, King Thor presides over the rebirth of the desolate Midgard….

Epilogue: The gravely injured Galactus finds himself changing by the power of Black Weapon of Gorr…into the Butcher of Worlds….
