Damage Control Director of Operations Robin Chapel awakens
from a much needed nap and John Porter fills her in on the status of the mission…and
then gives her the big news: the Chrysler Building has grown a face and hands
plus a very loud voice and it is angry. It wants to go for a walk; Lenny
Ballinger, Black Goliath, and Visioneer try to talk sense to it but fail….
At Gene Strausser’s lab, John and Robin find him working with
ARCH-E 5912, Hulk’s starship pilot; it boasts of Hulk’s might but when they
tell it that the Hulk is dead, the machine burns itself out. When it is working
again, it immediately quarrels with Robin; John suggests they take it with them
as it might help….
Lenny and the assembled heroes are unable to talk the
Chrysler Building out of going for a walk; Monstro and Black Goliath realize
that if the building moves they are going to have to fight it. John, Robin, and
Gene arrive to witness the aftermath of the hero fight: Chrysler has defeated
all of the assembled heroes, including Ms. Marvel (Carol Danvers), Luke Cage,
and Sentry. John speaks to the building like it was human and Chrysler explains
that his new situation is a miracle and it should do something with its new
life. ARCH-E 5912 explains that his newfound sentience is not a miracle but the
result of an alien material (Hulkanium) absorbing all of the emotions of the
people who have inhabited the building. Chrysler doesn’t care. Then John has a
suggestion….
Later, Tony Stark meets with Mrs. Hoag to tell her that he is
pleased with Damage Control’s work in restoring the city. Then she explains how
John Porter dealt with the Chrysler Building: he had it mounted on an
anti-gravity platform and it takes a vacation once a year, in August when all
Manhattanites are away as well. Tony is stunned….
