Comments: In the olden days an ashcan edition was a smaller sized, usually black and white comic issued to secure and protect a copyright. Now they are just promotional materials like the one in hand. It measures 5 ½ x 8 ½ inches and is printed in blue ink on white paper with red highlights, most notably in Cap's uniform. The painted cover is by an unknown artist.

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Captain America Ashcan Edition #1 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

Nick Fury dictates an overview of the career of Captain America: he covers Cap's origin, World War 2 exploits, his modern discovery by the Avengers and then briefly touches on his stint as Nomad, his flirtation with running for President, his being stripped of the mantle and return, ending with his bad reaction to the Super-Soldier Serum (the “Fighting Chance” story arc). The back page is a promo for THE CAPTAIN AMERICA COLLECTORS' PREVIEW.
