Comments: Story follows SECRET EMPIRE #4.

Review: Well, this was a pleasant surprise. In the midst of the dark and heavy-handed SECRET EMPIRE event, we have a bit of humor. More than a bit: the characters bicker constantly among themselves and with the bad guys. A welcome oasis in the desert of grim.

Sauron now offer to help the Avengers recover the shard if they will help him recover his kingdom. After discussion they reluctantly agree.... On the way they come to a village loyal to the New Stewards and Sauron tries to burn the place to the ground; two dinosaur-riding warriors of the new Stewards arrive and try to place Sauron under arrest. A battle ensues and surprisingly the Avengers win. They discover a secret underground route to the Citadel and soon arrive in the Stewards' throne room. That leads to battle with the Stewards—Lupa who controls wolves, Whiteout who can blind with a touch, and Vertigo who can induce severe dizziness. The Stewards become more amicable, seeing as they have lost and Sauron is locked in the dungeon. The Avengers team decides to heal from their wounds before searching for further fragments of the Cosmic Cube....
