Avengers Forever Infinity Comic #2 Synopsis by
Rob Johnson
We're now in the present day of Earth-5478 where humanity has survived and progressed without the presence of superbeings, including none of the pantheons of gods Earth-616 has. But the population is divided into the rich who live on the surface in gleaming towers and the poor workers who live underground with everything including water in short supply. They delve for resources for the outer world, and in return get their waste to bury.
Our miner hero Horus has never seen the sky and thinks it's probably a myth. Like his father who died at the 'ripe old age' of 43 he works at the deepest level digging for precious stones for the rich to ornament themselves with. His life in the dark has caused his eyes to atrophy so he's blind but can 'smell' the stones.
His latest exploration has led to a large diamond in a rock layer which he reckons is a million years old, but he's also triggered a cave-in which he survives but may be trapped. However he senses something else that has been partially uncovered by the rockfall. So he digs it out and grabs the handle of a large hammer (which is of course Mjolnir we saw buried last issue). As his comrades higher up prepare to come down to rescue him Horus feels a change coming over him as he lifts the hammer. There's a sound of thunder and then he blacks out.
Next thing he knows he's in a new environment. He can taste clean air and feel a cool breeze. And he realises he's flying. People in the towers look up in the sky and point to the flying caped man who they of course don't recognise as Thor. He's trailed by lightning and surprised by a fall of rain.
And then Ghost Goblin of the Multiversal Masters Of Evil comes to arrest him on his Goblin Glider.
