Maggia boss Silvermane’s mansion, Black Widow beats up some guards, then dresses
in a classy outfit to crash a big party thrown by the gangster. A previous
agent disappeared on this mission but Natasha gets in by claiming to have been
sent as proxy for another invitee. At the meeting Silvermane addresses the
assembled gang bosses to announce he is taking over as head of the entire
Maggia and demands 50% of all the others gangs’ take. And he demonstrates how
he can get away with that: he has the magical Wand of Watoomb to back up any
threats. He hands the wand over to his bodyguard Man Mountain Marko to put
away. Nat follows into a secret room; she dodges a trio of deadly traps before
reaching the wand placed on an altar. But when she reaches for it, it turns out
to be a hologram and she is confronted by Marko with the real wand. She beats
up Marko but then Silvermane appears in his cybernetic form; Nat tries to use
the Wand of Watoomb on him but she can’t as it takes a lot of training to wield
the wand properly, training which Silvermane has undergone. But Nat has an
ally: a masked woman who was seen with the Maggia boss at the party turns out
to be SHIELD Agent Astra, captured, disfigured, and held prisoner by
Silvermane. Now Astra distracts the baddie so Nat can fire a Widow’s Sting into
a chink in his armor, short-circuiting him. Nat and Astra leave, the latter
explaining the months of suffering she has endured; Nat assures her that SHIELD
can get her scarred face repaired.
