S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Garrett has been planted by Nick Fury in a S.E.A.L. team to report about Iron Man's field actions. During an operative of the S.E.A.L. team at Yemen, Iron Man shows up and attacks a Ten Rings cell that controls a vessel, saving Garrett's life in the process before parting.
Unknown to Fury, Tony Stark is well aware of Fury and Garrett's (encrypted) phone conversation, and the fact that Fury wants to request the aid of Iron Man.
