The
Badoon with a band of human zombie soldiers have invaded the USS Captain
America in search of the new power source they have detected, which is
Doctor Strange’s mind hooked up to the ship’s computer. Martinex, Nighthawk,
and Charlie-27 put up a fight but are eventually captured. Meanwhile, Strange’s
mental survey of the universe has discovered the swamp world where Valkyrie and
Vance Astro have been sent….
Having
been rescued from the swamp creatures, Val and Astro are unnerved at how much
their rescuer, Starhawk, knows about them. He leads them through the swamps to
Venesia, the city of the Sisterhood of Badoon, where they are taken to an
audience with the queen….
The
Badoon find the unconscious Strange and think he is dead. Strange’s astral form
is pleased, knowing this will buy them time while he rescues their lost
companions….
On
the drunkards world, the hypnotized Hulk and Yondu are prepared to fight in the
deadly Games. On the televised program, “Super-Death Sweepstakes,” Yondu is
sentenced to death by impalement and teleported to a room where he must battle
three robots with spiked extremities. But the alien “guest” turns out to be more
resourceful and Yondu destroys his three opponents; he is then teleported back
to the TV studio….
Queen
Tolaria of the Sisterhood welcomes Starhawk with Val and Vance Astro; the
latter is totally confused by a “nice” Badoon and demands an explanation. The
Queen relates how, due to a genetic defect, the Badoon males and females hate
one another so all mating is done through violence. The men segregated the
women on another planet so that the only contact came at mating time; eggs are
taken back to the homeworld by the men and any female hatchlings are returned
to the woman’s world, an arrangement which suits both sexes well. What the
Queen doesn’t know is that the Brotherhood has become an empire conquering
other worlds. Starhawk confirms this, then, his mission fulfilled, he takes off
into space, crossing paths with Dr. Strange. Strange then teleports Val and
Vance back to Earth where they find their comrades, Martinex, Nighthawk, and
Charlie-27, about to be executed by firing squad….
