Synopsis

Deadpool Annual #1 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

Before Secret Invasion: Deadpool was waiting on a rooftop in Hell’s Kitchen. He has been hired to assassinate Matt Murdock and is ready with a sniper rifle. His aim is spoiled, however, by the other heroic citizens of the city as Spider-Man chases the Lizard, the Avengers confront Count Nefaria, and the X-Men engage Juggernaut between him and his target. This doesn’t mention the ninjas he had to kill to have the rooftop to himself. He is interrupted by Madcap who cannot be harmed, no matter how much ‘Pool tries. The madman responds with a blast of his bubblegun which merely sends Deadpool to his happy place, a vision of an idyllic pastoral scene. All this gives Daredevil the opportunity to sneak up behind the two crazies; Thor also arrives and DD asks him to lightning the villains. The Thunder God complies and the two villains are reduced to a pile of ash. Soon ‘Pool pulls himself together but now he has Madcap in his head as an unwanted guest for the next several years….

Just before Marvel Now: Deadpool is on the same roof, with the same assignment, to kill the same guy, surrounded by the same pile of dead ninjas (well, maybe not the same dead ninjas). He is again disrupted by various heroes flitting by but this time he plans to distract the supers with a bomb planted in a nearby building. Unfortunately for him, Luke Cage has found the bomb and punches the Merc in the Mouth. With ‘Pool unconscious, Madcap takes over his body and hypnotizes Cage into dancing. Thor arrives and is made to join the Hero for Hire in a quickstep. Deadpool awakens and, with Madcap’s agreement, has Thor and Cage each grab an arm and pull him in two. When he heals there are Wade Wilson and Madcap as separate people again, each with half the Deadpool costume. They part and ‘Pool picks up his rifle. Daredevil then appears and beats the crap out of him and Wade is at a loss for words, suddenly missing his chatty companion…..
