1945: At the end of World War 2, Russian forces are poised to attack a Nazi bunker. The wounded commander is reluctant to sacrifice lives in taking so the zealous Sgt. Volkov gives the order to attack. The Germans have a Panzer tank as part of the defense and thinks look grim for the Russians—then Captain America arrives leading an American company. Cap withstands a shell from the tank and responds by slicing the top off the tank. The bunker fall bur Cap stops the Russians from killing the surrendering Germans. Volkov’s only interest is capturing the rocket scientist among the enemy. A Nazi soldier suddenly shoots Volkov in the chest; Cap knocks down the gunman and struggles to save Volkov’s life…..
1968: The Soviets plan to put the first man on the moon and the Cosmonaut is the former Sgt. Volkov. The rocket is launched….
Today: Aboard a space station Project D.E.U.S. goes online, converting dark energy in space into a clean power source. But something goes wrong and the device overloads, feeding on itself, transforming into spindly steel tentacles, the scientists are sucked inside…. A SHIELD Helicarrier is dispatched carrying Captain America and Sharon Carter into space. The spacelab is missing and the Russians would dearly love to get their hands on it. The station has vanished into a dead zone; the only word that was transmitted on the emergency channel: "Volkov."
