Betty Ross can't believe that
Bruce Banner is really dead. She's right, he's not!
A brainwashed Banner is in Latveria building weapons for Doctor Doom. As the super villain kidnapper arrives with Valeria, the woman he loves, and is trying to win over despite her opposition to his evil ways. When Valeria discovers that Banner is building a gamma bomb, she recalls the story of the Hulk. Mention of that name triggers Bruce's transformation into Jade Jaws, and Doom is forced to tranquilize him.
Doom straps the bomb to the Hulk's back and sends him out to destroy his enemy's army. Doom detonates the bomb, pretending it was for Valeria's benefit that he is merely trying to save the world from the Hulk.
Doom failed to account for two things, however: a) That Valeria would see through his ruse and reject him for his evil ways, and b) that the bomb would fail to destroy either the Hulk or the opposing army, through Bruce Banner's having managed to reprogram his brain.
Ol' Greenskin returns to Doom's castle and the two engage in a massive battle in the skies over Latveria. When Valeria is threatened by falling debris, Doom rushes to her rescue, allowing the Hulk to seize and crush him in his arms.
Doom refuses to surrender but the Hulk relents anyway, knowing his foe is beaten.
Valeria's care for the fallen Doctor Doom reminds Hulk of Betty and Doc Samson and, saddened, he leaps away into the distance.
