Tony Stark shows up at the big fancy party where he flirts with Pepper Potts. Reporter Christine Everhart corners him and asks about the terrorist attack on Gulmira using Stark weapons. Tony confronts Obadiah Stane, who explains he did it to save the company and is locking Tony out. Tony dons the Iron Man armor and flies to Gulmira and defeats the terrorists with an impressive array of munitions. On his way out, Tony has a mid-air duel with two US Air Force jets while in contact with James Rhodes. Back at the lab, Pepper catches him in the armor….
In Golmira, Obadiah Stane is working with Raza, confiscating the wreckage of Tony’s original armor as his henchmen kill all witnesses….
At the company, Tony has Pepper search Stane’s laptop for incriminating evidence and she finds it—but Stane knows she has it. Pepper gives the info to Phil Coulson of SHIELD. Stane overpowers Tony and steals the arc reactor keeping him alive. But Pepper had kept the original and Tony uses that to suit up as Iron Man and go to Pepper’s rescue. Stane, wearing a larger more powerful armor, battles Tony who can outmaneuver him and lure him into space where icing brings him down. Tony has Pepper activate the giant reactor and Stane is killed….
At the press conference, Tony is handed a prepared speech to make, offering the official account of the incident. Instead, Tony tosses the cards aside and announces, “I am Iron Man….”
Later, Nick Fury appears at Tony’s home, telling him of the Avengers Initiative; Tony declines the offer. On his way home, Fury calls to tell Natasha her services will be needed….
