With Hammerhead back to life, Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus aim to make sure he doesn’t get past them! The three square off in a free for all until they all collide and end up knocking each other out all at once! At that same time, outside, a swat team enters the laboratory from the ground while simultaneously a bunch of Hammerhead’s men land on the roof in a helicopter. Both groups flood the area and surprise Spider-Man just as he wakes up! With things even more hectic, the free for all commences as Spidey and Doc Ock both end up fighting swat team and Hammerhead’s men alike, both determined to make sure Aunt May is safe! Through all the chaos, Hammerhead ends up reaching Aunt May first and takes her hostage, throwing out smoke bombs to cover his escape. While Spidey and Doc Ock take care of Hammerhead’s men, they’re too late to prevent his escape in his helicopter. The two decide to team up temporarily to rescue Aunt May, promising to settle their differences once she’s safe!
Meanwhile, in an unknown workshop, a mysterious man works hard to rebuild the Spider-Mobile for his equally mysterious employer! With certain special modifications installed, the job is complete and with it, their plan to bring down Spider-Man! Elsewhere, at the Daily Bugle, J. Jonah Jameson is dictating an article when he sees Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus together out of his window! He throws a million different orders about this at his frazzled new secretary until she gets fed up and quits! While Jameson is puzzled, all Robbie can think is…that’s two down! Back with Spidey and Doc Ock, they’ve tracked Hammerhead to his old nightclub hideout. The two take out two of Hammerhead’s men stationed at the door before moving through the club. They’re surprised in the kitchen by more guys and take them out as well before going to confront Hammerhead. They find Hammerhead in his office with Aunt May, and end up surrounded when the walls slide up to reveal an army of armed goons!
Spidey attacks Hammerhead while Doc Ock deals with the henchmen. Spidey rips a piece of the floor up in order to shield Aunt May from all of the chaos, as Hammerhead activates his rotating office. He dives out of the window at the proper time, leaving the office to keep spinning, knocking everyone off their feet! Doc Ock times his jump and follows Hammerhead out of the window as Spidey stays behind, throwing whatever he can into the gears of the room, hoping that’ll stop it from rotating. He eventually succeeds and takes out the last of Hammerhead’s men but finds that the room stopped with the only window facing a brick wall! Meanwhile, Doc Ock has made it to the roof, when the whole thing swings open, letting out Hammerhead’s helicopter, and knocking Doc Ock into the adjacent alley. Unable to reach with his arms, Doc Ock throws a few trash cans from the alley at the fleeing helicopter, until one hits one of the rotors. The helicopter ends up plummeting to the Hudson River before exploding, seemingly killing Hammerhead once again! At that moment, Spider-Man smashes through to the roof and finds Doc Ock. Before the two can settle their differences, however, they hear sirens approaching, prompting Doc Ock to escape while Spidey leaves Aunt May where she can be found, before leaving himself!

Review: Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus team up to rescue Aunt May from Hammerhead! This one’s very action-oriented, and without all of the dumb ghost stuff, a lot more standard. That being said, it’s also mostly just okay, as this whole storyline has been. Spidey and Doc Ock’s team up is fine, though Ock’s oddly cooperative throughout the whole thing. I guess he really does care about Aunt May?? Hammerhead seemingly dies again (and won’t need a ghost next time to explain why he’s not dead) and Doc Ock is chased off, somehow mistaking a firetruck siren for a police siren, for another moment of Ock being dumber than usual. While there weren’t as many questionable moments as last issue, the dialogue was noticeably hokier than in previous stories, and Ross Andru’s art looked more rushed, making for a subpar end to a subpar story. Also, someone (who definitely isn’t spoiled in the characters section) has rebuilt everyone’s favorite accessory the Spider-Mobile, prompting a surprise return next issue as Spidey has to contend with his own car!
Comments: The Spider-Mobile is rebuilt.
