There's a Spider in my Omnibus!

Circa 1963. A conversation much like the following took place at Marvel Comics:
"Hey, Martin! Since we're canceling the Amazing Fantasy book, can I slip in the story I’ve been working on?" asked Stan Lee, Marvel's head writer and editor.
"The one about the teenager who gets spider-like powers?" replied publisher Martin Goodman.
"Yep, that’s the one! I really think it’s got potential," insisted Stan.
Pause... "Ooooh-kay, go ahead. But nobody’s gonna read that. The idea of a spider-boy is just disgusting."
A few months later, the very first story of Peter Parker, the Amazing Spider-Man, hit the stands. And Marvel made comics history—again!
