Pale Little Spider Part the Second

Synopsis

Black Widow: Pale Little Spider (2002 series) #2 synopsis by reviewer Peter Silvestro
Rating: 3.5 stars

Police Detective Maks Golitsyn returns to the Fabrika sex club, following up on the murder of Lt. Col. Pyotr Starkovsky. His partner, Detective Val Dobrova, knows it’s because he is fascinated with the woman from the G.R.U., warning him that she is the Black Widow. But Maks thinks the Black Widow was only wartime propaganda, “she doesn’t exist.” Val responds, “What if she does?”

Inside, Yelena Belova has been steered by Nikki the dominatrix into a room designed to match Starkovsky’s fantasies, with a “Black Widow” (Petra) in charge. Petra tries to throw her out but Yelena approaches the man chained to the cross and unmasks him, revealing a stranger. Yelena wants to know what is going on but Nikki is disgusted that Yelena is so weak and pathetic that she can’t understand what Starkovsky saw in her to put her in the Black Widow program. Nikki continues to mock Yelena until she fights back, trying to get her to admit to her sexual interests but Yelena just shrugs it all off. Nikki changes her tune, finally understanding that Yelena did not kill Starkovsky and assuring her that she (Nikki) didn’t either. And so they start again on a new footing. Nikki explains that the club is there so that clients can act out their fantasies. Starkovsky’s fantasy was the Black Widow….

Detective Golitsyn bullies his way into the club, assuring them that his interest is strictly business. The hostess warns him that there are many prominent men there but Golitsyn informs her that he will otherwise have the club shut down. So the hostess reluctantly admits him and he calmly walks through the various cells with the staff and clients acting out their desires….

Nikki makes things even clearer to Yelena: having trained her for years, Lt. Col. Pyotr Starkovsky was obsessed with her. Knowing he could never have the real Yelena, he came to Fabrika for them to create a fantasy: a Black Widow who resembled Yelena, beating and abusing him and then making love to him. Petra was playing Black Widow, hair dyed blonde for the game….

Golitsyn comes upon Petra in a darkened room and he mistakes her for Yelena Belova. She calls herself the Black Widow and cuddles up close to him while stabbing him in the gut, moaning with pleasure. But now she must confront the impostor, the real Yelena….
