Synopsis

Black Widow: The Things They Say Abou Her #5 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 3.5 stars

Having just escaped from the prison in Guantanamo Bay, Matt Murdock walks along on the Cuban side of the fence. He is pursued by an American helicopter which opens fire on him. Their sensors show only half a body so they depart, their job done. Matt climbs out of the hole he partially buried himself in and continues on his way. Yelena Belova pulls up beside him in a jeep and offers him a ride, supplying some one-sided comical banter. She explains that her sources have kept her up to date on these matters and that she has spoken recently with Black Widow...

…who is now a captive in the medical facility in Darien Gap, Panama, under the watch of Dr. Ochoa. Kestrel and Martin Ferris arrive and, left alone to work out their resentment, abuse Natasha. Kestrel pushes Ferris out so she can take her revenge against Natasha for killing her partner, Max Hunter. After a beating, Nat tells Kestrel that Max and Kestrel herself deserve what happens to them. Kestrel claims to have Sally Anne Carter prisoner but Nat knows she’s lying since if she did have Sally, she would already have produced her—and ends with a vow to kill Kestrel. Kestrel leaves and orders Ochoa to have his men search the area for Sally…

…who is in the woods with a bound Bobby Campano who is begging her to release him so they can escape. Sally insists on waiting for Natasha. Suddenly, Sally is seized from behind….

Natasha is injected with a powerful hallucinogen. Her mind fills with images of falling into a giant eye, being embraced by a corpse-like Red Guardian, seeing stuffed animals in her crib transform into monsters, then she turns into a spider before she fights off the chemical’s effects. She shouts, “Is that all you’ve got?” Kestrel says no and they bring in Sally Anne Carter….

Review / Commentaries

Black Widow: The Things They Say Abou Her #5 Review by (June 5, 2024)

Review: I’ll be honest...I’m not sure why Matt Murdock is in this comic. That said, It’s mostly about Natasha being tortured, difficult to stomach even if she stands up to it. And the capture of Sally is a grim note to end on…but wait to see what happens….

Comments: Not rated but should be PSR+ (Parental Supervision Recommended Plus).
