On a WW2 battlefield in France, Sergeant Nick Fury and his
Howling Commandos Dum Dum Dugan, Rebel Ralston, Junior Juniper, Gabe Jones,
Dino Manelli, Izzy Cohen) are engaging the enemy in a running battle when a
massive Nazi tank appears. Fury barks some orders, the tank fires at him and
rubble from a collapsing wall buries his legs trapping him. The tank fires
again…and Captain America is there to block the missile with his shield. Cap
frees Fury then leaps on the tank, rips the hatch off, heads inside and clobbers
all of the Germans….
In the field hospital, a general informs Cap and Fury about
a new mission. The Germans are heavily fortifying a bunker called Wolfsschanze—Wolf’s
Lair. Spies they have sent to investigate have failed to return. The Allies
need to know what is going on there and to have it destroyed. As Fury is out of
commission, Captain America must lead the Howling Commandos on the mission….
On the way by plane, the Howlers are all expressing
misgivings and their lack of faith in Captain America, perceived as a walking
gimmick with no real combat or leadership experience. They reach the drop point
and Cap jumps without a parachute and the Howlers follow….
At Wolfsschanze, a Nazi witch named Ros rolls the bones and
predicts death. Nazi Commander Witt promises ten new recruits and she assures
him that will be enough….
Cap and the Commandos land and there is immediate conflict
as Dugan doesn’t agree with Cap’s tactics, insisting he take over for Cap, who
is merely a marketing scheme. Then they are attacked by a pack of werewolves.
Their bullets do no damage; Cap intervenes to protect the others, holding off a
monster with his shield. The beast slashes Cap across the chest with its claws
and then the sunrise causes the werewolves to retreat. Reb and Dino get into an
argument over whether werewolves are real, interrupted when Cap transforms into
a wolf-man himself. He stands revealed as one of them…and tells Dugan to kill
him….
