Synopsis
Teenage superheroic activity has been outlawed by the so-called Kamala's Law. Ironheart, Ms Marvel, Nova and Spider-Man of the Champions are still free but others have been sent to re-education centres. Our 4 took a break last issue with the X-Men's Marauders but then headed back into the fray. Meanwhile Viv Vision has been informing on them for their own good, but last issue was persuaded to help her friends instead.
We begin with Snowguard, Starling and Wasp in their bunks in 1 of the camps under constant surveillance. But Viv and Brawn break in to rescue them. They evade security until they get to the control centre where they discover the place is run by Roxxon (who's attack on a young climate activist at Coles High School sparked off the Underage Superhuman Welfare Act in the 1st place in the Outlawed 1-shot). They shut off the power-dampening restraints that all the 'prisoners' have and start a mass break-out.
In Ironheart's home in Chicago Riri's mother Ronnie Williams and her friend Xavier King have been keeping each other company while they wait for news of Riri. Then the 4 tumble out of a closet (presumably teleported there by the Krakoan system). Riri hurriedly apologises to her mom for being out superheroing, but her friends needed her. Ms Marvel takes full responsibility as the leader of the Champs. But Mrs W says she fully supports what they and her daughter are doing. In fact she's thinking of starting a Parents Of Teen Heroes Support Group.
Later at Riri's lab which used to be Ironheart HQ the 4 prepare a social media broadcast. But they're interrupted by a loud banging on the door which they assume is CRADLE troops come for them. The door is smashed in but it's Brawn who only meant to knock loudly, and he has the others with him. Miles Morales still worries that CRADLE will find them but Viv assures them they won't. The synthezoid admits that *she* has been tracking them and passing the info on to CRADLE. She blamed herself for the Coles disaster and wanted to keep them out of more danger. But now she realises she should have trusted their own decisions.
Amadeus Cho now reveals that he and Viv downloaded loads of surveillance footage from the re-education camp, which they now put out on the Net. Nova thinks that the whole Outlawed event has been orchestrated by Roxxon but Wasp thinks they just took advantage of a situation that was at least partly the Champions' fault. Snowguard supports her but some of the others aren't so ready to forgive, especially Bombshell after the brainwashing they put her through. Amadeus breaks it up by inviting everyone back into the restored Champions Mobile Bunker.
Senator Patrick was the instigator of Kamala's Law, but it turns out his motives were pure and he didn't know what Roxxon was doing in the camps. Loads of people are protesting outside his office and he wants to talk to the leaders. But a couple of Roxxon 'representatives' barge into his office to tell him not to do that. However the Champs (including Red Locust) turn up too, and the 'reps' send for Roxxon troops. (That office is getting awfully crowded.) The crowd follow them in. And then the Senator orders Roxxon to stand down, and they reluctantly leave.
Later the Champions give a press conference. Senator Patrick has terminated Roxxon's contract and closed the camps. The Law is still in force but will be re-evaluated, and CRADLE will be toned down. But the Champions will continue fighting for what's right.
Later still Mrs Blakemore welcomes 2 new Roxxon interns to a social media job. And those 2 interns are Miles Morales (Spider-Man) and Sam Alexander (Nova).
