The Fantastic Four (Reed Richards, Invisible Woman, Thing, Human Torch) travel to Japan to appear at the dedication of the new Giant Monster Museum and Expo Center to great applause. The Museum’s curator, Dr. Yamane, gives them a tour, showing off the relics of monsters (called Megalosaurs), a gallery of weapons designed to fight the monsters, and a science lab devoted to research using megalosaurus DNA in gene splicing. This last concerns Reed, seeing the potential for disaster. Tony Stark has also been invited to the opening and he is consulting with the scientists. They are shown the fugushi, a fish-bovine hybrid, created to supply milk for Japan's needs. But the creatures panic, smashing through their tanks and stampeding. Other creatures also break out of their enclosures, terrorizing the museum and Iron Man joins the FF in containing them. Thing throws a huge creature out of a window and now they are loose in the city. But all the creatures seem to be afraid, fleeing the area. But what could be frightening them? Then a quartet of giant creatures arise from the ocean and come ashore: Droom, Giganto, Grogg, and Eerok….
