Lyra, the Savage She-Hulk, has been dragged beneath the
ocean’s surface by Atlanteans possessed by Undying Ones, led by a two-headed
Tiger Shark. Then she discovers she can breathe underwater, courtesy of Doctor Strange
who has magically provided the same ability for teammate Loa and himself (Namor
and Silver Surfer don’t need the help there). The new Defenders realize they
are vastly outnumbered and to exorcise them, Strange would need the magical artifact
used to summon them if they would spare the mortal hosts. Namor fears hurting
his people, despite their possession, and their cries feed into his guilt over
failing to protect them. Tiger Shark, host of the two-headed demonic leader
called the Nameless One, goes after Lyra but Namor rescues her. Then they
discover that Loa is missing and Namor swims to the ruins of New Atlantis to
find her….
Silver Surfer locates Loa but she tries to stab him in the
back—“she” is the villain Tyrak in disguise and the Surfer knew it. Tyrak then
grows to giant size and attacks….
Tiger Shark locates Lyra meditating; her strength increases
with calm. When fully focused she punches the villain many leagues into the
watery distance….
The real Loa meets up with Dr. Strange and they proceed to
the palace where they encounter Aradnea; it turns out that she is the mystical
conduit for the Undying Ones. Namor arrives to hold off her attendant monsters
while Strange battles the sorceress. Loa conks Aradnea on the head, Strange
seizes her and utters the spell that drives off the demons. When the dust
clears the Undying Ones are gone, the Atlanteans freed. Aradnea tries to kill
Strange with a trident but Loa uses her powers to insert her hand into the
witch’s chest and disintegrate her. The only challenge left is to face Attuma….
