Infernal Hulk Vs. Spider-Man (2027 series) #1

At her father’s graveside in Arlington National Cemetery, Betty Ross Banner reads a treasured excerpt from Melville’s Moby Dick, sorrowing after the father she could never connect with. She is interrupted by Aleksandra Nightbringer, a Russian witch who reminds her that Betty did not love her father but she (Aleksandra) has the power to reunite Betty and her father….

The assembled Avengers (and others) listen to Reed Richards’ final message, concerning the Immaculate Engine suggesting it is the last chance for defeating Infernal Hulk. Tony Stark assumes that Hulk has already destroyed the machine but Captain America thinks they should head to the Baxter Building to learn if that is true. They also wonder where Nick Fury is and debate whether they should leave New York so that they are not corrupted by Hulk and forced to join his forces. Spider-Man interrupts to say they should go to the Baxter Building to find the weapon. Cap agrees but Scarlet Witch warns them what could happen….

Luke Cage and Jessica Jones are driving out of the city with their baby Danielle, arguing over whether Jessica should stay with Dani while Luke joins the Avengers for the fight when their car is wrecked and hurled through the air. Spider-Man shoots through the sky and snatches the child, landing safely. He tries to contact Cap but his communicator is damaged…and then the Infernal Hulk tries to smash him. Hulk wants the child for his army; Spidey refuses so Hulk slaps him out of the way and starts to transform Dani. Spidey leaps in again and seizes the baby, being slashed across the abdomen for his trouble. Spidey flees across the tall buildings, managing to get a call for help to Cap. Spidey reaches a construction site with Hulk right behind him. Spidey tells Dani to run and hide while he stalls the monstrous foe. Spidey takes a severe beating but brings the girders down on Hulk. The Avengers arrive and Spidey sees that Luke and Jessica have their child back. He warns everyone to stay away then Spidey morphs into a massive giant spider before their eyes. The Infernal Hulk then challenges the Avengers to come at him….
