Synopsis

Mighty Thor, The (2015 series) #5 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 4 stars

The duel between female Thor and Odin sends the combatants crashing into the moons of Saturn with Thor putting into her blows all the bitterness she has harbored since Odin rejected Jane Foster as a suitable mate for his son....

In Asgardia, those faithful to Freyja (Sif, Heimdall, Volstagg, Hogun, Fandral) gather around her in the throne room; the All-Mother insists Loki remain among them because she trusts him. They all fight against Cul and his Thunder Guards backed by the Destroyer....

In Aflheim, the wedding between Queen Aelsa and Malekith is concluded but instead of peace between the realms it brings his imprisonment of the Queen and gloating over the easy victory. He gathers his allies (Enchantress, Ulik, Dario Agger, Lauffey) and ponders which realm to seize next....

As the Odin-Thor battle carries them to Jupiter and the throne room is filled with carnage, Loki stabs Freyja in the back and the wicked deed sends ripples throughout the universe, ending all conflict....

Cul corners Loki and has him deliver a message to Malekith that Asgardia is off-limits to him....

The wars are ended, the Congress of Worlds restored, Cul sits on the throne of Asgard as regent, and Thor is the sole guardian of the Ten Realms....

Epilogue: On an alien spaceship, Thor Odinson is a prisoner screaming, for he has sensed what has happened to his mother....

Review / Commentaries

Mighty Thor, The (2015 series) #5 Review by (March 16, 2016)
Comments: First appearance of Thor Odinson (i.e. the original guy) in this volume.

Review: Okay story, the usual characters handled well but with a feeling of deja vu...Dauterman's art makes it magic. And it's about time we got back to original Thor; I hope this revelation from Original Sin is worth the wait.
