New Avengers (2010 series) #33

The spirit of Daniel Drumm blames the New Avengers, especially Dr Strange, for the death of his brother Joshua, Dr Voodoo Sorcerer Supreme. He possessed liaison Victoria Hand and used her to kill powerful sorcerers Daimon Hellstrom and Jennifer Kale who might have got in his way, and then killed her making it look like DrS did it. Along the way he also possessed an FBI Agent and made him shoot himself in the head while claiming the the Avengers were making him do it.

This issue repeats the end of last issue where Stephen Strange teleports to New Orleans to see Hellstrom  and finds the dead body, and Maria Hill and SHIELD Agents arrive to arrest him. Meanwhile FBI and SHIELD Agents have Avengers Mansion surrounded and Captain Marvel is helping Luke Cage and Jessica Jones escape with their baby through the tunnels used to launch Quinjets. She leaves them at the exit but Luke looks back.

Hill asks Strange how he killed Hellstrom and he replies that he just got here like them. He asks how *she* got here so quickly from New York but she declines to answer. He tries to explain that dead Daniel Drumm is behind what's going on and is probably possessing 1 of the SHIELD Agents, maybe even *her*. Hill doesn't care what he says and asks him to come quietly.

Carol Danvers returns to the other Avengers just as Mockingbird, a SHIELD Agent as well as an Avenger, goes out to pacify the troops. Spider-Man wants to leave but lawyer Daredevil advises against it because it would turn him from Person Of Interest into a Suspect. Bobbi Morse suggests that SHIELD calls in Captain America to sort this out. And Maria Hill (who's still here) says she already made the call.

In New Orleans a SHIELD Agent aims his gun at Hill's head and DrS is too late with a protective spell when he shoots her in the head. In the chaos that ensues Strange makes Daniel leave the Agent. And in New York the real Maria contacts Stephen via the 'dead' body and explains that the other her is a Life Model Decoy. She believes him now but still wants him to come in voluntarily, but he points out that Drumm can still control whoever he wants, and his worry is increased when she tells him she's called in Cap and the other Avengers.

The Avengers arrive to find Hill telling them to go away. Meanwhile Daniel possesses Thing who throws DD and SM out through a window. A battle royale commences with the foe body-hopping to stir things up. Hill tries to tell the newcomers what's going on but Drumm possesses Cap to KO her with his shield. Then he moves on to a series of other heroes.

The escape tunnel has brought the Cage family to the other side of Central Park where they meet up with baby Danielle's nanny Squirrel Girl. They book into a hotel but Luke sees the fight on TV news. Jessica tells him to go help but Luke protests that he *chose* his family over the Avengers. But she urges him to go help their friends, and he does so.

Daniel possesses Thor then Thing again until Dr Strange shows up and challenges him to a sorcerous duel to the death.
