Synopsis

Red Hulk (2025 series) #10 synopsis by reviewer Peter Silvestro
Rating: 4 stars

General Thunderbolt Ross and his team (Deathlok, Machine Man, Wildstreak) enter Latveria and arrive at the mountain with Doctor Doom’s face carved into it, where they had been prisoners, to stop Simon Ryker and his Project Alpha. Machine Man notes an approaching storm to give them cover. As the rain starts to fall, they spread out to vary their approach but once separated, Deathlok, Machine Man, and Wildstreak are almost immediately captured by Ryker’s Red Hulk mutates. Back at the mountain, Ross hears the gunfire and then his communicator is jammed. So he climbs the mountain and enters via the eye to find himself facing Ryker and his Red Hulks with Ross’ teammates prisoners. Ryker orders him to hand over the gun so Ross shoots him. Ross and Ryker then transform into their monstrous alter egos, Red Hulk and War-Wolf,and do battle, while Rulk lectures on “necessary violence,” which is what armies provide and Ross carries out to make America safe. Rulk beats War-Wolf to a pulp so all the mutates flee, having to reason to fight. Rulk asks Wildstreak to hand over the American flag she has been carrying but she balks, claiming that planting a flag of conquest will turn the world into a war zone. Machine Man and Deathlok concur. But Rulk smashes his way through the ceiling to plant the flag atop the mountain as he had promised to do….

Red Hulk (2025 series) #10 Review by (November 12, 2025)

Review: The usual cool action series now adds a direct layer of social commentary when Ross notes that “the American dream is only possible because of nightmares like me.” And he says this while Red Hulk is ripping War-Wolf to pieces. His hymn to “necessary violence” leads to the prospect of a new war in the end. Thus the title of the story is a pun. The term “red flag” means a hint of danger or trouble ahead yet Rulk plants a United States flag which Wildstreak had warned would only serve to widen the war, thus making it a “red flag.” I’ve enjoyed this series immensely and as it ends it points to more perilous times ahead. Which is why comic books are fun.

Comments: Final issue. We are directed to CAPTAIN AMERICA (2025) #5 to see what comes next. Bannered “ONE WORLD UNDER DOOM” as a tie-in to that event.
