Synopsis

Siege: Captain America #1 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 2 stars

As Norman Osborn, HAMMER, and his Dark Avengers lay siege to Asgard, a young couple (Jimmy and Susie) in Oklahoma decides their ticket to fortune lies in snapping photos of the conflict to sell to the media. Leaving their teenage daughter Madison to watch her little sister, they drive off. Moments later, the TV warns residents to evacuate the area so Madison takes Kim and drives to find her parents. She arrives just as Sentry destroys the citadel and the family is enveloped in a massive dust cloud….

Captain America (Steve Rogers) rises from the rubble, having been protected by his shield, which Bucky returned to him. He sees James Barnes—the new Captain America—at the mercy of the killer Crossfire. The former partners get the drop on the villain and lay him low. Just then, Jimmy runs up seeking help for his wife and children. After sifting through the rubble, the Caps discover the injured Susie but can find the children. They look up to see the girls held hostage by the assassin Razor-Fist. As the stalemate lengthens, Madison elbows the villain in the groin and he responds by slashing her neck. While Steve performs first aid, Bucky takes on blade-handed enemy. Razor-Fist gets Bucky at his mercy and pieces his hand with a blade. Fortunately it’s Buck’s bionic hand and he is able to punch out his foe. The impact causes a precarious wall to fall and he narrowly rescues Susie and Kim. Razor-Fist seizes this moment to attack but the two Caps are able to take him down. As they see the family off in an ambulance, they return to continue with the rescue of those trapped in the rubble.

Siege: Captain America #1 Review by (April 21, 2010)
Bland issue. No big deal, just a fairly standard “hostage incident” story, with a lot of Bucky questioning his fitness to wield the shield. Best part: you don’t need to be following SIEGE to understand it.

One-shot tie in to SIEGE, Marvel’s big event of 2010. Story takes place between SIEGE issues #3 and 4. By the way, how does Razor-Fist eat, dress himself, and take care of other, er, personal needs? I can’t imagine and don’t want to.
