Spider-Man and the Incredible Hulk (Denver Post) (1982 series) #1

Bruce Banner attends an international science conference in Colorado to meet Dr. Dmitri Solzyn, Latveria’s leading scientist and an expert on gamma rays. But Solzyn wants to defect so Doctor Doom has assigned guards to watch him at all times. Also on the scene is Peter Parker, assigned to take pictures at the conference but who is also hoping to get in some skiing. Peter is on the slopes when he recognizes Solzyn who flees his guards with his superior skiing. The guards pursue, firing stun beams at him. Solzyn goes over a hill and comes face-to-face with Doctor Doom who reveals that he has Solzyn’s daughter Ilse a hostage to ensure the doctor’s cooperation. Then Doom tells the guards that he saw someone watching (Peter) and orders them to cause a fatal accident….

Bruce asks Solzyn about his plans to defect but Solzyn insists he is a loyal Latverian. The guards seize Bruce and strap him to skis and push him down a hill toward a cliff. The terror triggers his transformation into the Hulk. Meanwhile, the guards have caught up with Peter and put him on the ski-lift then fire a sonic shattergun at it. Pete uses his web shooters to pull himself to safety then dons his Spider-Man outfit to stretch webbing across the valley to catch the other falling riders. Elsewhere, Hulk is attacking the guards who respond with stun guns and a device that shoots steel bands. Hulk is subdued for only a few seconds so Spidey seizes the opportunity to head to the lodge and rescue Ilse. Hulk thunderclaps and creates an avalanche to bury the bad guys before he lies down in the snow and reverts to Bruce Banner. Rescuers find him and the buried guards….

Doctor Doom announces he and his delegation are leaving; a reporter asks about rumors that Dr. Solzyn wants to defect. Then Peter produces Ilse and Solzyn loudly announces his defection. Doom leaves in anger and Solzyn takes Bruce and Peter to the May D&F store to buy them all a new wardrobe. Solzyn promises to help Bruce find a cure while Peter heads back to the slopes for more skiing.
