Hulk reaches Gamma base to rescue the body of the deceased Jarella, which is kept intact in a tube in a secret chamber of the base. But the military was waiting for him, and lashes all their power against the green brute!

When the battle seems to be won by the Hulk, Glenn Talbot attacks him wearing the lethal Super-Mandroid armor, provided by S.H.I.E.L.D. after the Pentagon finally granted Talbot permission to kill the Hulk.

In Denver, Colorado, the Mike Douglas TV show invited Rick Jones and Fred Sloan to talk about the Hulk. Fred is writing a book about the Hulk. In his words, "I'd like to get the truth about the Hulk in print... That he's not just a mindless monster!" Trish Starr is at the station too, along with Captain Marvel and Elysius. They learn about Hulk's fight at Gamma base, and Captain Marvel flies over there.

Talbot got the upper hand, but he ultimately succumbs to the unlimited strength of the Hulk! Fortunately for Talbot, Captain Marvel arrives just in time to save him.

Also in this story, in flashbacks: the original Avengers (Thor, Iron Man, Giant Man, Wasp), Machine Man, Thunderbolt Ross, Gremlin, Betty Ross, Des (Tyrannus).
