Synopsis

Thor (2026 series) #802 synopsis by reviewer Peter Silvestro
Rating: 5 stars

Sigurd Jarlson plummets down into the Realm called Heven. A curious Angel flies beside him trying to determine what sort of being he is. He asks for help, she declines as there is no prospect of reward for her doing so. So he suggests he has important information he can trade for his life. She catches him and he reveals that he is on a mission to rescue Thor from the dead. She drops him as it is in Heven’s interest that Thor remains dead. Sigurd plummets past the huge Hall of Treasures so he throws his hammer, breaking a window where it catches to allow him to swing into a lower window on his bungee cord. Impressed, the Angel asks him to teach her that trick. But by now Sigurd knows that she will kill him as soon as she learns the move because that is the way in this mercenary society where everything is reduced to profit on a ledger sheet.  In return she mocks his ideas of Love, Freedom, and Honor, grabbing a golden sword and attacking him. They spar, Sigurd holding his own, smashing her golden sword with his hammer. The Angel calls that the only way he could have wounded her, in taking away part of her wealth. He hurls the hammer at her so she grabs it and yanks Sigurd off his feet, carrying him to a golden fire in which Heven incinerates its garbage. She throws her broken sword in…and then Sigurd….

Thor (2026 series) #802 Review by (October 28, 2026)

Review: Another absolutely unique issue, Sigurd verbally sparring with an Angel, telling us everything we need to know about the Realm called Heven. And the art is pretty sharp as well, counterpointing the clever dialogue nicely. And the elapsed time of the issue would seem to be less than five minutes.

Comments: The existence of Heven, the Tenth Realm, was revealed in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY (2013) #7, to provide a background for Angela (introduced in AGE OF ULTRON #10), a character created by Neil Gaiman and Todd McFarlane for SPAWN (Image Comics); after a legal battle, Gaiman ended up with the rights to the character and sold them to Marvel; both Angela and her realm were explored at greater length in ORIGINAL SIN #5.1-5, where she was revealed to be Thor’s long-lost sister. The Angel refers to the events of DOCTOR STRANGE OF ASGARD (2025). Issue includes a five-page preview of STAR WARS/MARVEL: HOPE ASSEMBLES.
