Uncanny X-Men, The (1981 series) #247

With Master Mold baring down on an injured Rogue, the other X-Men arrive in the nick of time to help! Master Mold’s systems don’t know how to handle his attackers, being that the X-Men are still invisible to electronic sensors, as well as Nimrod within him resisting their integration. As Master Mold just sits there, unsure what to do, Psylocke checks on Rogue before Senator Kelly desperately asks her to help his dying wife. Psylocke tells him that she can ease his wife’s pain but that it’s too late to save her from dying! The X-Men capitalize on Master Mold’s inability to fight back, as Colossus knocks off one of his legs and Dazzler and Havok each blast off an arm! Storm then hurls Colossus right into Master Mold with a hurricane-force wind, allowing him to tear a giant hole right in its torso! With Master Mold wide open, literally, Storm finishes the job by frying what’s left with her lightning! With the battle done, the X-Men wonder how Master Mold was able to see Rogue in the first place, and Psylocke states she could sense a living awareness within him. The battle left Longshot feeling quite useless, prompting Dazzler to try and comfort him about it. As the police begin to arrive, the X-Men sadly look to Senator Kelly holding his dying wife.

Meanwhile, back in the X-Men’s Australian base, Jubilee secretly walks around the place, bored out of her mind! She ends up wandering into Dazzler’s room, wondering why everything inside looks so nice while outside looks so barren and desolate. Jubilee is unimpressed until she spots Dazzler’s seemingly never-ending wardrobe and reasons that Dazzler won’t miss one missing piece! While she plays around, Jubilee spots Gateway out of the window, sitting on his far hill. Feeling as if he’s staring right at her, a now freaked out Jubilee decides to run back to her hidey hole as fast as she can to figure out what to do! Back in New York, Senator Kelly holds his wife and as she dies, she tries to warn that Master Mold has not been completely destroyed! Master Mold then springs up, beginning to reconstitute himself, and with his integration with Nimrod complete, is able to see the X-Men quite clearly now! This is proven when he’s able to deflect Havok’s blast right back at the X-Men, resulting in a huge crater that Dazzler ends up falling into!

Master Mold then begins using the construction materials all around to rebuild himself even bigger than before, while curious onlookers wonder what’s going on! Storm tries to end the fight quickly by generating an enormous wind to carry him far out to sea, but Colossus discovers he’s anchored himself to the ground. Colossus tears off one of Master Mold’s legs and he responds in kind, before Psylocke tries to access the living consciousness she can sense within. This wakes Nimrod up once more, who isn’t happy. Rogue then absorbs Colossus’s powers to try a trick of her own, while down in the crater, Dazzler realizes she still has the Siege Perilous in her pocket! Rogue flies up into orbit before rocketing back down, her own speed, in addition to gravity and Colossus’s borrowed mass causing her to slam into Master Mold with the force of a small meteor!

When the dust clears, the X-Men are shocked to discover that Master Mold is still not down for the count! As Master Mold begins to reconstitute himself yet again, Dazzler wonders if the Siege Perilous will work, and throws it at Master Mold. Master Mold anchors himself once again, to prevent being pulled into the Siege and Rogue flies over to try and knock him loose. Master Mold grabs Rogue, and with no other option, she tells Dazzler to blast them both into the mystical doorway! Asking for forgiveness, Dazzler blasts Master Mold loose, causing both him and Rogue to be sucked into the Siege Perilous, and sent to parts unknown! Later, Sebastian Shaw stands in the aftermath and receives a status update on everything from Tessa. He attempts to comfort Senator Kelly, who in his grief, gives the go ahead for Shaw’s new Sentinel hunter system, swearing on his wife’s grave that this has to end! Meanwhile, all this is being watched on a screen by Donald Pierce and his new Reavers. Knowing that the X-Men were involved, Pierce makes plans to eliminate them! Meanwhile, they in turn are being watched by the enigmatic Nanny and Orphan-Maker, who decide that they’re going to save the X-Men!
