Avengers: No road home #7 Review by (April 5, 2019)
The regular scripting trio continues:- Mark Waid, Al Ewing, Jim Zub.

Euphoria is a sentient planet who appeared in the 2014 and 2016 volumes of Silver Surfer. It cares for its inhabitants and tries to make them happy. I don't know how Hulk knows about it. But Zeus said the 3rd Night Shard is in a paradise, so maybe that's where it is?

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Avengers: No road home #7 Synopsis by Rob Johnson
Scarlet Witch is with Conan the Barbarian in the Hyborian Age where they retrieved the stolen Night Shard. But Nyx detected it through ScW's blindfolded (and blind) eyes and has come back through time and grabbed it. Serpentine Oizys her youngest child has come with her carrying captive Voyager. She also thinks she is accompanied by her twin children Apate and Dolos ...

... but then they turn into Hercules and Vision. And Spectrum makes herself visible too. It turns out that when Nyx vaporised Herc and Vizh in #5 it was Apate and Dolos disguised by Monica Rambeau's manipulation of light. And she'd similarly disguised the 2 Avengers. The Greek Goddess Of Night is understandably angry and attacks Spectrum who retaliates by blasting Nyx with simulated sunlight. But Nyx deflects the rays with an image of the Moon.

During this confrontation Monica worries about what she's turning into. Not only as a possibly-immortal energy being. But also because of the strategic decisions she coldly makes.

In Nightmare's Realm Nightmare has regained control and now wants Hawkeye, Hulk, Rocket Raccoon and their Night Shard to leave. He can send them wherever they wish. Rocket suggests inside a bank vault. Clint Barton wants to go help the other Avengers. But Hulk wants them to go to the sentient planet Euphoria where dreams come true. Rocket likes that idea too. And Hawkeye agrees to go along because he thinks Hulk is up to something. We'll probably follow this up next issue.

Hercules attacks Nyx with the glitching Vision as backup. Wanda Maximoff gets blasted out of the building in Shadizar and Spectrum catches her. The blind Witch is worried about her ex-husband Vision. She wants to get back in the fight but Monica strategically decides to leave her out of it, and heads back into the fray by herself. Nyx is about to stab Herc with the Shard when Spectrum's energy form zooms through her. And Scarlet Witch, whose blindness doesn't cover being able to 'see' Nyx and the Shard, adds a hex zap.

Vision may be stuttering and arcing electricity but that doesn't stop him digging some Zamoran civilians from the rubble. Unfortunately Conan assumes he's a bad guy and hits him with an axe, shattering some metal. Spectrum zaps Conan to stop him striking again and tells him that *Nyx* is the enemy. And she lends Vizh some solar energy to keep him going.

But Nyx cracks the Night Shard and immediately realises that's how to get her power back out of it. Spectrum is too late to stop her as she breaks it and feels power coursing into her ... and she sees a vision of a house (which reminds me of DC's House Of Mystery) floating on a rock in midair. I'm guessing this is where the 3rd Shard is.

Nyx humbles Spectrum, lets Voyager go as now unnecessary and sets shadow creatures on Hercules, Vision and the Witch. She also removes her magic from Wanda, which gives her back her normal sight but stops her from sensing Nyx and the Shards. She then exits leaving Oizys to deal with the others.

Oizys gains power from the despair of the citizenry. And he calls forth a champion. Enter the spirit of Conan's dead love Bêlit, who stabs him in the chest with a ghost knife.
