Synopsis

Blood Hunt #2 Synopsis by Rob Johnson
Darkforce users have been turned into portals for darkness from that dimension to cover the Earth allowing vampires free reign, and they were ready to use it. The Bloodcoven of super-vamps captured Black Panther, Scarlet Witch and Thor, and drove the other Avengers (Captain America (Sam Wilson), Captain Marvel, Iron Man and Vision) out of their orbiting Impossible City base. Blade the Vampire Slayer met with Dr Strange and Clea and attacked Strange, revealing that he is the new top vamp behind it all.

We see that Blade has made the City *his* base. The Thunder God with a spike through his brain is strung up and dripping Asgardian blood into bowls. Wanda Maximoff is confined by runic bindings. And T'Challa has been turned into a vampire and must now serve his new master. Blade sends him to seek an unspecified 'prize' while the Bloodcoven are ordered to find his daughter ...

... Brielle Brooks who we see in New York killing vampires to protect a mom and 2 kids. And she's helped by the previous lord of vampires Dracula. (They teamed up in FCBD 2024 Blood Hunt/X-Men, and since then in Dracula: BH #1 he's brought her from Atlanta to NY.) Drac upbraids her for wasting time saving insignificants, which she rebrands as innocents. But then a voice announces that the Bloodcoven have come for them.

Elsewhere in town Hunter's Moon and Tigra are also slaughtering the foe, and telling folks to lock and barricade their doors. They decide to go see Dr Strange and are caught by surprise when the other Spider-Man (Miles Morales) drops down to them and asks if they can take him with them because as a newbie hero he doesn't know where the Sorcerer Supreme lives. They get there and Tigra knocks. The door is answered by Strange's astral form projecting through it. They gain entrance anyway and follow his 'ghost' to where Clea is magically restraining his now vampiric body.

Dracula greets the Bloodcoven's leader Bloodstorm One who is his clone. Vlad Tepes demands their obedience as Lord of all vampires but the clone declares him a false lord. However aid appears in the form of the 4 free Avengers, out for revenge. BS1 tells Megrim to befuddle their minds but the synthezoid Vision grabs her and takes her into the sky. He claims that while his synthetic brain is human enough to be susceptible to her power he's cycling his brain states too quickly for her to lock on. And when they breach the world-girdling cloud of Darkforce the vampire is burned up by the Sun.

On the ground Carol Danvers punches out Bloodstorm while Sam-Cap's shield shatters Smoke Eater's jar of spirit-smoke. Last issue Cruel's razorwire infiltrated Iron Man's armour but this time wildly oscillating magnetic fields keep them out. And when Damascene tries to stab him in the back with the kind of spear that Thor now has in his head, Vision returned full of solar energy uses some of it to shatter the spear and make the vamps cower in fear. Cap Marvel says that they were caught by surprise last time, but now they're prepared. And she sends a force blast into the sky which temporarily floods the area with sunlight. The Coven retreat and turn to mist. (Strangely Dracula seems unaffected.)

Brielle asks the team to take her and Drac to Strange's Sanctum and soon all our 'heroes' are gathered there. She greets Spider-Miles as the only person she actually knows (they met in his (2022) #10-12) and asks if he knows where her dad is (Blade was in those issues too). But Spidey responds by ripping his mask off and revealing vampire fangs.

Blood Hunt #2 Review by (May 24, 2024)
We saw Spider-Man (Miles Morales) meet up with Blade in FCBD 2024 Bloodhunt, and there Blade told him he had a job for him. (This was before we learned that Blade was the big bad last issue.) Presumably now we're starting to see what that job entails.

We were introduced to Brielle Brooks, daughter of Blade and sometimes called Bloodline, in FCBD 2022 Avengers/X-Men. Then she had her own story in the Crypt Of Shadows 1-shot followed by her own mini-series Bloodline: Daughter Of Blade which covered her origin and early life. Father and daughter guested in Miles Morales: Spider-Man (2022) #10-12. Then she starred in Marvel's Voices Infinity Comic #96 (where Agatha Harkness gave her the cat Ebony's kitten Walpurgis, and Dr Voodoo asked her work with him) and she cameoed in #100.
