Fed up with their neighbor Zig constantly watching them, Dani Moonstar of the New Mutants goes across the street to find out what is going on. Zig is the Norse hero Sigurd in hiding, and believes Dani has been sent from Hel to find him so he reacts….

Meanwhile, the Disir have escaped from Mephisto’s domain and he warns young Loki. Loki then brings the news to Thor and Leah and this word spreads through Asgard and to Hela Goddess of Death. The two assembled armies are on the hunt….

The Disir burst through into Zig’s house, looking for Sigurd, and Dani summons her friends just as Hela arrives with Tyr, and the Asgardians (Thor, Loki, Warriors Three) show up. A desperate Sigurd reads from a magic scroll and the New Mutants find themselves alone and confused….

Epilogue: Loki is now a normal human boy named Luke, with a fondness for fantasy games….

Review: Terrific crossover starts here with the usual sharp writing and impressive visuals—and I’m not even a mutant fan! This is a cool thrill ride that can be enjoyed without any prior knowledge of the New Mutants—but if you haven’t been following JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY this may be a tough slog (Loki’s a kid? And a good guy? Where did these weird dogs come from? Where did these weird cannibal women come from? etc.).

Comments: One-shot title is part one to a JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY/NEW MUTANTS crossover. Story continues in JIM #637. Sigurd was introduced in NEW MUTANTS (2009) #34. The various Hell-Hound puppies first appeared in JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY #632.
