Invincible Iron Man #86 Review by (June 11, 2021)
Comments: Issue bannered “Iron Man Disassembled” on cover; tie-in to “Avengers Disassembled” event. Part one of four parts. Story arc takes place after the events of AVENGERS #500-503, minus the epilogues in issue #89. The Age of Intelligent Machines by Ray Kurzweil is a real book, published in 1990.

Review: The art! Gaaaah! Tony Stark looks like Tennessee Ernie Ford (Google him), Rumiko is ugly in most of the modern-day scenes, and Asian characters are colored pale yellow, which I thought ended in the 1970s with Shang-Chi and Fu Manchu. The story? It’s “Iron Man Goes Nuts” again and turns out to be another impostor. Things are being disassembled but we’ve seen much of this before. A scene set in the woman’s restroom was new, though.

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Invincible Iron Man #86 Synopsis by Julio Molina-Muscara
Tony Stark is trying to figure out why he suddenly lost control of himself during his speech at the U.N. Headquarters, where he threatened the Latverian Embassador severely (as told in Avengers #500); Tony speaks about the matter with his friend Happy Hogan (Pepper Pott's husband).

The Board of Directors at Stark Enterprises is outraged about the U.N. incident, and begins talking about changing the company's name. Suddenly, Iron Man crashes through the window and kills all the members (!). Pepper Potts and Happy saved their lives miraculously since they were stranded in the elevator.

Meanwhile, Tony's ex-girlfriend Rumiko Fujikawa with a friend, returns from Japan to help Tony.
