Invincible Iron Man (1998 series) #86 Review by (June 11, 2021)
Comments: Issue bannered “Iron Man Disassembled” on cover; tie-in to “Avengers Disassembled” event. Part one of four parts. Story arc takes place after the events of AVENGERS #500-503, minus the epilogues in issue #89. The Age of Intelligent Machines by Ray Kurzweil is a real book, published in 1990.

Review: The art! Gaaaah! Tony Stark looks like Tennessee Ernie Ford (Google him), Rumiko is ugly in most of the modern-day scenes, and Asian characters are colored pale yellow, which I thought ended in the 1970s with Shang-Chi and Fu Manchu. The story? It’s “Iron Man Goes Nuts” again and turns out to be another impostor. Things are being disassembled but we’ve seen much of this before. A scene set in the woman’s restroom was new, though.
