Dracula calls down a
snowstorm on London as a prelude for his hunting one dark night. He summons
rats to drive a young woman into his waiting arms but her crucifix drives him
away. He leaves her to the rats but her father, an old man in a wheelchair, and
his dog drive them off. He then sends a message to Rachel van Helsing that
Dracula is in London….
Meanwhile, Dracula
makes his plans to trap his enemies while berating his servant Clifton Graves….
Rachel van Helsing,
Frank Drake, and Taj Nital come to London to see Quincy Harker; Rachel explains that Quincy is the
son of Jonathan and Mina Harker and he has a scientific approach to
vampire-hunting. Frank is introduced to Harker and his daughter Edith and they
return to the Harker estate. Harker shows off his latest tool, a tube that
fires a net weighted down with garlic-filled balls, designed to trap Dracula in
bat form. Harker gives a short history of vampire-hunting and Frank commits
himself to the mission….
At nightfall,
Dracula rises, abuses Cliff Graves some more and heads out to hypnotize a group
of young boys into serving him. As bait for his trap, Dracula preys upon a
drunken fellow named Buckley Grainger near Harker’s home; the man’s scream
brings the vampire hunters. After a wild struggle, Dracula flies off and the
others pursue in their car until their quarry enters an old fortress. They
creep in, overpower and bind Cliff, and drive a stake into Dracula’s heart as
he lies in his coffin. But it turns out to be a double and the vampire springs
his trap: he unleashes his pack of hypnotized boys to kill them, knowing they
will be hesitant to fight innocent children. As Dracula leaves, Harker fires a
round of poisoned darts, one of them striking Dracula and then they face the
children….
