World War Hulk is over...only Hercules
doesn't seem to know it yet. Herc is drinking casks of wine in honor
of Hulk, with whom he feels a dark kinship (having killed his own
wife and children) when he and his team—Amadeus Cho, Namora,
Angel—are surrounded by SHIELD forces led by Gabe Jones. Namora and
Angel are offered amnesty and leave. Herc and Amadeus are accused of
more serious crimes. Herc submits quietly which Amadeus assumes is a
ploy to escape and he is quite angry when he discovers it is not a
ruse. Hercules is brought before his brother Ares who has held a
grudge ever since Herc killed Ares' sacred birds at Stymphalis during
his twelve labors many centuries ago. Ares tells Herc to accept the
amnesty offered by Tony Stark and the first of his new labors will be
to rebuild Avengers Tower—singlehandedly. Meanwhile, Gabe Jones is
reminding Amadeus Cho about the huge loss of homes and property
caused by his pal Hulk; Jones offers him a job coordinating the
restoration project but Amadeus refuses, not trusting the government.
Then Ares comes flying through the tent, propelled by Hercules' punch
and Herc and Amadeus take off. They dash into a tunnel where Amadeus
calculates the right spot for Herc to hit to cause a flood, deterring
their pursuers but carrying the two heroes in a car to the water's
surface. Amadeus, having stolen Jones' laptop, suggests a war on
SHIELD. When Jones tries to destroy the laptop remotely he finds
Amadeus has booby-trapped it. So they call in the big guns: Ares,
Wonder Man, and Black Widow....
