A giant lava-like monster arises from a city street, forming into a giant lava man who calls to the X-Men’s Glob Herman

At an empty mall in the American Midwest, a band of Morlocks is gathered to eat their dinner when Infernal Hulk enters, killing Hoss in the process. He has come to take Leech with him; the others fight back but are easily subdued. Infernal Hulk picks up Marrow and calmly crushes her between his two hands, takes Leech and departs….

The next morning at their Alaska Base, the X-Men gather, some remotely; Cyclops announces that everyone at the base and mutants worldwide have had visions of mutant grandeur in ruling the world. Beast adds that many mutants are feeling an instinctual pull toward Infernal Hulk’s fortress Golgothia in the Appalachian Mountains. Emma Frost is trying to counter Hulk’s call while Quentin Quire is shielding the Alaska base from psychic attacks. Glob has a question: why is Hulk trying to draw mutants to him? Mutants aren’t monsters. Beast reiterates that they are protecting their own….

As they leave the meeting, Jubilee asks Wolverine what he saw in a vision; Logan replies that it doesn’t mean anything. As they head to a restaurant, he asks what she saw. Jubilee replies that it doesn’t mean anything….

That night, Infernal Hulk arrives in Alaska and releases the mind-controlled Leech toward the compound. Inside, various X-Men ponder what would happen if the Hulk wins. Glob leaves the room and they consider Glob’s claim that he did not have a vision and wonder what delusions of grandeur Hulk could offer Glob. Then Infernal Hulk crashes in and the X-Men jump to action as they realize that Leech is a power dampener so their defenses are all down. Hulk announces he has come for only one of them and dispatches Bridger to find that person. Magneto summons a Sentinel to fight Hulk; Hulk smashes it to pieces in a single page. Hulk fights the others, dropping them then plucking Magik’s sword from his chest, proposing to see what would happen were she to be decapitated with her own weapon. But Bridger returns to report he has found the quarry and Hulk announces that the mutants of Earth as his by right, “as you will learn.” And departs. Then Quentin realizes that Glob is gone….

At the Baxter Building, Reed Richards has assembled some of the Avengers and explains that Infernal Hulk is constantly mutating everything to his own ends, having no upper limit, and all of the standard methods for fighting a gamma-powered monster will not work. Then Bruce Banner enters, apologizing for being absent all this time but he reminds them that the only way to take down a Hulk is by building a better monster….

Infernal Hulk, The (2026 series) #7 Review by (May 27, 2026)

Review: The nightmare continues. The X-Men take on the Infernal Hulk and lose. Just like everyone else, in a series of exciting but grim battle scenes. And it ends with a light at the end of the tunnel: to defeat a Hulk one needs to build a better monster. But as we have already seen, Infernal Hulk is the better monster. This series sounds like it will grow scarier before it gets lighter. And what’s up with Glob? Something surprising I hope. See you next month.

The cute moment: Logan and Jubilee decline to reveal their visions to the other, seeing that it doesn’t matter. Two of a kind they are.

Comments: Cameos by Morlocks: Erg, Holmes, Hoss, Pyro; X-Men: Emma Frost, Iceman, Nightcrawler, Rogue; Avengers: Captain Marvel, Scarlet Witch, Spider-Man, Vision. I can’t find an identification of Bridger, though. Issue includes a tribute to the late Jacopo Camagni, Italian artist who also worked for Marvel.
