Mangog, the embodiment of the wrath of
a long-dead race, is now the ultimate judgment of all the gods for
the way they ignore and disappoint their worshipers. And now, Mangog
is in old Asgard battling the War Thor (a/k/a Volstagg) and brutally
beating him while spouting his rage and mockery at the hapless
deity....
Elsewhere, in Vanaheim, the Realm is
being bombed by Roxxon planes and Roxxon's BERSERKERS, warriors
with Hulk-like abilities, are dropped in (without parachutes) as
reinforcements....
Karnilla, Queen of the Norns, having
been killed last issue, arrives in Niffleheim, the Land of the Dead.
She is greeted by her old flame Balder. The reunion is brief because
then the Realm is invaded by the Fire Goblins of Muspelheim....
The brutally beaten Volstagg grips the
hammer and Mangog takes the hammer and Volstagg's right hand between
his two claws and squeezes, shattering the Ultimate Mjolnir and
pulping Volstagg's hand. The monster hurls his victim over the edge
and demands to know where all the other Asgardians are. Volstagg,
hanging on by his one good hand, refuses to talk. Malekith arrives
and supplies Mangog with the answer he seeks and, once he is assured
that Malekith is not a god, heads off to Asgardia. Malekith drives a
knife into Volstagg's hand and the god drops away into space. The
Dark Elf smiles over his success at remaking the worlds in his
image....
